Early Summer Favourites!

No it’s not really a mess! It’s probably your average, daily rummage in your drawer for makeup! Well this is mine at the moment!

In the murky depths of of my drawers, where I throw everything that I’m currently wearing I find I’ve got more than than I thought and quite a collection! So much for keeping it quick and snappy! 🤣 so this is it of late, what suits me at this time of year, slight skin colour, lighter clothes (in colour and weight), lighter and brighter outside and plainly what I fancy to wear, what makes me feel perky and good!  So in the order that I plonk it on, because I have to be honest, that’s what I do, in the quickest time, with the smallest amount of faff! Here we go!

You all know I really love this SPF 30 Anti Aging face Fluid (cream) from Biovene; I get mine from Swvers for about £3.99 Its just not the price or the sublime, soft, creamy texture, it is the divine, and I really do mean divine smell. Oh my God, it like immersing your face in apricots! But as important to me as that is, (I really hate products with out a scent) I’ve finally sussed the best and only way to get a successful application of an SPF that really protects the skin. Apply the lotion/cream in a layering motion on top of the skin, use at least 3 flat fingers to apply it in a layering motion being careful not to rub it in. I give it at least 15mins to fully absorb so that I get the full benefit of the SPF before I add any foundation. You actually then use the correct amount that all the dermatologists tell you. Crikey, it’s finally taken me all these years to get it right!

Last year I was looking for one of these CC Creams that still give me some cover but be much lighter than a foundation to wear in the summer. I had heard so much about these creams, never thinking that I could actually get away with one with my imperfections namely pigmentation spots. Always highly recommended are the Erborian CC cream and the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, both of which are fabulous, easy, good coverage creams. But I wondered if there was something cheaper and a bit closer to home that I could use?
This Primark Tinted Moisturiser is the same as CC Cream, with great colours, super smooth texture and enough coverage for a little bit of cover, even for me. It’s really so easy to apply with your fingers or a brush if you prefer, I use it a lot once the weather gets warmer and I don’t want to wear a foundation like product, perfect! Just to add they have just bought out their own CC Cream, I’ll report on that later!

There are a lot of sponge topped concealers on the market, and I really see no reason to spend any more than is necessary when you can find a fabulous little product like this! Primark Conceal & Illuminate under eye concealer. The only problem I had in the beginning was how to open it to get the concealer out! Twist the silver rim anti-clockwise until enough product has pumped into the sponge tip. Having this sponge tip gives a truly soft, comfortable application to a delicate area like the eyes, so easy, so convenient (seems to be my mantra!) but it really is. I love it, and you can use as little or as much as you want just by layering. This one is my most perfect colour too!

Well it’s definitely time to get your bronzer out, now the sun is shining and you want to have a healthy glow to your skin. Bronzers come in all shapes and sizes these days, and also all depths and shades of tan. Another favourite product by Primark, Blush Duo; which comes with a darker cream bronzer/blusher and a lighter powdered version. I’ve been using the cream one every day, it helps me have a more healthy but tanned look, by this I mean I don’t look like I have a obvious bronzer on, which gives a more subtle healthy look. Or I should say, that’s what I’m aiming for!🤣🤣 of course you can just use the lighter powdered version or just on it’s own or for a stronger look, apply it on top of the cream one. Either way it’s a very nifty little container.

If you want subtle, soft, buildable blusher, look no further. This one is a constant favourite and comes in about 4 colours, the one I wear is a soft pink.  The Elf Monocromatic Multi Stick is a game changer to anyone who wants a multitasking product, either you are short on time or short on patience, this can be a blusher, lipstick or even an eyeshadow! Use it straight on your fingers, straight on your face or stipple with a brush, either way it gives a soft wash of colour that you can’t go wrong with! Ideal to enhance all that loveliness!

What’s not to totally love when you have this  small, extremely lovely little compact of gorgeous ex eyeshadow colours!  This is a very well used set of mine, that I can use whatever the weather and whatever my mood. You know those days when you look in the mirror and feel totally yuk! Pink will make brown eyes browner, green eyes greener and make your grey eyes bluer, giving you a nice pick me up along the way. Lovely to blend, easy to use with lots of other great colours to choose from, take your pick! Wet n’ Wild Color Icon I tend to use the pale pink all over my lid, the murky pink one (second from left) in my socket blending upwards, and sometimes the very dark one along the lash line, top and bottom for definition.

It’s always tricky when you’re got thin eyebrows (circa 1970’s), light in colour and ageing! There really is so little to work with and this light coloured felt tip of a pen is perfect if you have eyebrows like mine or you have a mid brown eyebrow. But Brow Define by Essence is quite foolproof and easy to use everyday. I team it with the Elf Wow Brow which helps to add depth and shape where I clearly need it!

Who knew that this little pot of gorgeous colour could totally transform your face and your skin! A definite nod to Milani cosmetics it has that same soft sheen, delicious! It’s a small pot which a lot of punch and pigment, stroke it on with care, you only need a little, but heavens it will transfer you into a glowing, bronzed goddess. Yes, you can tell that I love it can’t you? I have the peach one and it also comes in a pink, which I must try also!  Sweet Radiant Blusher by Primark

The mascara to end all mascara! Even Lancôme’s  Hypnose, most definitely, as lovely as that mascara is, what's so special about Telescopic by L’Oreal you might ask? The first thing it that it never fails to give a good even coverage, the brush is fairly small and long so that you can wiggle the brush right to the very bottom of the lash by the lid to give that extra bit of definition to your eyes and lashes. It sort of leaves a line there, handy! Before you the sweep it to the tips. Particularly if you have shorter lashes it coats fantastically without clumping in lumps!

Sometimes, just by chance you come across an old favourite in your makeup stash and wonder why you haven’t worn it in ages or even remember it being there! This is the story of this gorgeous Chanel Rouge No 19 Hydrabase Lipstick in Neuilly! I know why I haven’t worn lipstick like this in ages it’s because I went over to “matte last for ever lipsticks”! And this “normal” lipstick doesn’t last forever, but oh my god it’s totally luscious but in fact does last quite a while. What a complete treat, what a colour, so soft so creamy. Naughty but nice, an expensive but truly worth it product, for quality, lasting colour pigment and glorious packaging! Yes, I’m sorry but it does seem to make it all worthwhile. I haven’t just bought this, but found it in my large treasure trove of product that I had forgotten about! So, look in yours, you just might find something truly yummy!
