I seem to have so many bronzers, where have I collected them all from? I’ve mainly got cream bronzers, the usual powder ones and the bronzing drops which are very popular, what’s the difference? And which one should I wear? There are SO many on the market now that you would be forgiven to totally give up! Where the hell should I start!
My first real foray into bronzers and regular use started when we first went to Spain for the Summer and I had to carefully negotiate my skin colour changing from pale to bronze. There’s that funny time when you are still pale and your skin is beginning to turn tanned and you need a little bronzing help! I should add it had nothing to do with sunbathing but everything to do with just being outside, the bronzing bit was unavoidable! Honestly! Though I love a good blast of sunshine!

Anyway, that’s when I discovered a bronzer by L’Oreal called Glam Bronze La Terra no4. I bought it years ago and it’s still going strong! I did buy something very similar by Primark, PS Bronze Matt Bronzing Powder in Fearless at £1 and it works very well for that light sweep of colour to add a little something to your make up or even a bare face, no need for anything else to give you a sunny lift! Use it on your eyes too!
Also not to forget the Poundland Make Up Gallery Good To Glow Matte Bronzer that’s definitely a bargain product that performs better than its designer alternative and it’s only £1. Great colour, not too intense, smooth milled powder that easily glides over your hairline, cheekbones and nose, giving a burnished soft glowing tan! Recently featured in the You Sunday Mail Magazine.
The other really popular bronzing powder is by Benefit, you know the one, in the little square box, with the square stubby little brush called Hula. Naturally, I have the budget one that is great too, by W7. I could say that it’s exactly the same for a fraction of the price.

Another way to have a soft, natural glow is using a by cream bronzer. We’ve all heard of the famous, utterly gorgeous Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder and their Bronzing Cream both at £50, for a fabulous wash of bronzed colour. But there are lots of other alternatives at a fraction of the price, so good in fact that maybe you wouldn’t know the difference!
Everyone is talking about the new No7 one, which I haven’t tried yet but what I do use are these: I love the Primark PS Bronze Whip at £4.50, a velvet finish whipped cream bronzer, comes in just one colour (that’s all you need, isn’t it!) light, soft, a great colour! My other favourite is by Elf and it’s the Putty Bronzer in Honey Drip, I think it was £7 . Have you tried these putty products? No? Go and buy at least one! They are so clever, a product that stays moist but dry (work that one out!) without the shine and stickiness is the only way I can describe it. They are like velvet. This one is a medium brown that actually I use as an eyeshadow as well, perfect for that touch of tan on the lids! So, so soft and easy to use. My advice is find a bronzer that is a couple of shades darker than your skin. Try the putty blushers too and the putty primers for a flawless look!

The other type of bronzers that you can try are the bronzing drops. These are great fun and can be used in a number of different ways. They normally come in light, medium and dark and some of them have a blusher.
I’ve only just recently realised that you can use them all over your face as a primer/bronzer or as a base instead of a foundation or tinted moisturiser. I’ve used a light one and the effect is gorgeous, of course it has no coverage but use a little foundation or concealer where you have too! It really gives the skin such a Californian glow, with a soft, light tan. Of course you can use the medium or dark one depending on your skin colour, I also think the pale pink one that I have would be good all over on a sallow skin too! I haven’t tried it but it makes sense that it would softly brighten a dull skin.
Everyone seems to make these bronzing drops, from high end to budget. As well as the above, they can also be added to your moisturiser, for a light touch, and used as a bronzer on your cheekbones, nose and top of the forehead. Talk about multi use! I love them! These ones are from Primark, Instant Bronzing Drops they come in Light, medium, dark and pink.
Embarrassing, I seem to have them from Poundland, Primark (currently on sale for £1!), and Revolution. Their colours vary, and they have different skincare ingredients, but to be honest they all look and feel the same!

The other bronzer that I’ve been using recently is a liquid one too, but in a tube. Sunkissed Bronzed Glow in Soft Brown, I bought this one in Savers for around £4.99. It might be Soft Brown but I’ve only just began wearing it as it’s pretty dark and you need a bit of natural colour on your skin. It’s a good idea to have different bronzing shades in your makeup collection, to use as and when you need them, even through the Winter. Again this is easy to use by just adding a few drops to your cheek bones and then just blending with your fingertips. It’s as easy as that, crikey it gives you such a glow!

Then finally I’ve got this great little product - Sun Beam Tinted Primer SPF 50+ from Primark, it’s not a bronzer but it’s got a light glowing, soft colour to it that if you wanted something that wasn’t too much like a tan, but gave you a light wash of colour with the ever important protection of an SPF, and an added brightening and smoothing peptide complex, this one would be right up your street, so to speak! It really is lovely and most importantly easy and pretty! What’s not to like! Oh, and it was on sale at £3 instead of £6, there you go, bargain of the week!
You might think all I do is hang around Primark to look at their beauty stuff, but honestly I look everywhere, and if it’s not any good, I’ll tell you. But there’s no doubting it, it’s good, inexpensive product, have a look!
Enjoy your Summer!
